Food for Friends

The Stanley Public Library will hold a “Food for Friends” food drive March 3-28.

Community members may bring non-perishable food items to the library during this time. All food collected will be donated to the Mountrail County Food Pantry. Items may be turned in at the circulation desk at the library.

Blind Date with a Book Winner

The Friends of the Library sponsored “Blind Date with a Book” during the month of February at the Stanley Public Library. Patrons selected wrapped books from the display. The first line of the book was printed on the outside of the book. The books were returned with a “Rate Your Date” sheet, which entered the patrons in the prize drawing.

This year’s winner was Alecia Hurst. Alecia’s blind date was “City Under One Roof,” a mystery/thriller by Iris Yamashita, which she rated four out of four hearts. Congratulations to Alecia and all the patrons who took home a blind date!

Blind Date with a Book

For most people, blind dates can be hit or miss. Whether you find your literary soulmate or your bookish date turns out to be a one-night stand, Blind Date with a Book is always a good idea!

Stop at the Stanley Public Library to find your date for Valentine’s Day by checking out a book on display. If you are the president of the “Judge a Book by its Cover” club, don’t be scared. You’ll be able to see the first line of the book printed on the wrapped book, but you won’t know the name of your blind date until you get it home. Who doesn’t love a bookish surprise?

You will enjoy getting to know your date, because this event is not strictly for romance readers; you may even expand on last year’s reads. It may be a rib-tickler, a heartbreaker or a mystery. There are plenty of selections at the Stanley Public Library.

Inside each book is a “Rate Your Date” sheet. Fill out the sheet and return it to the library to be entered in a drawing for a prize, whether you loved the book or not. The sheet must be returned by February 27 and the drawing will be held February 28.

A blind date with a book can be a forever commitment or just a fling, but it is sure to be a fun adventure! The event is open to patrons ages 16 and over, and is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
